MERLIN PRO 40 is a temporary peelable protective coating designed to protect non-porous surfaces from damage caused by; abrasion, staining, spillage and scratching. The liquid applied coating dries to form a tough film that will protect surfaces such as; glass, aluminium, PVCu, stainless steel, painted surfaces and most non-porous surfaces for up to 12 months.
Liquid plastic provides a unique air-tight, fire resistance, tough, and durable ‘skin’. It can be used in conjunction with MERLIN PRO 42 to add UV and Waterproof properties making this a highly versatile product for many applications.
MERLIN PRO 40 is designed to be used in internal/dry conditions and has effective protection for up to 12 months. The real value is realised in the speed at which it can be applied, this solution can offer incredible time and cost savings.

MERLIN PRO 40
Material Type - Water based.
Colour - Clear. Also available pigmented in a colour upon request.
Health & Safety - The compound is non-toxic and non-flammable in the wet state. The dry film waste may be disposed of as low hazard.
Storage - Shelf life 12 months. Store at temperatures between 5°C - 25°C. DO NOT ALLOW LIQUID TO FREEZE.
Surfaces - Glass, aluminium, PVCu, stainless steel, painted surfaces and most non-porous.
Flammability - It has achieved British Standard 476: Part 7 1997 Class 1 “Method for Classification of the Surface Spread of Flame of Products”.
Application Information
Application - For detailed instructions please refer to the Application Guide and use a wet film gauge (available from Ophir Solutions Ltd) to ensure that the minimum wet film thickness is achieved.
The contents of the container should be mixed thoroughly before use. Always conduct a test area and a test peel on each substrate before use.
A minimum wet film thickness (WFT) of 300 Microns [100 Microns dry film thickness (DFT)] must be achieved, anything less may result in the product becoming difficult to remove. Do not apply in wet or freezing conditions and protect from rainfall.
By Spray – Apply with airless spray gun, using a 17 thou tip size and a box coat to achieve a minimum WFT of 300 Microns (100 Microns DFT).
By Lambswool Roller – Apply 2 coats, allowing 1st to tack off. Apply generously to achieve a minimum WFT of 300 Microns (100 Microns DFT).
Tack Free Drying Time - A WFT of 300 Microns will be tack free in approximately 140 minutes at room temperature. Force drying may be used by using moving air and increasing the surface temperature to a maximum of 50°C.
Coverage - The theoretical coverage rate is approximately 3.3m2 per kg at a WFT of 300 Microns.
Removal - The dry film can be easily removed either by hand peeling or by pressure hose. Do not remove in freezing conditions as the coating may be brittle.
External Weather Resistance - Is suitable for INTERNAL USE only up to 12 months. This is not a waterproof coating. For external weather resistance up to 12 months apply MERLIN PRO 42 Top Coat.
Clean Down - Clean rollers and equipment with water immediately after use.
Repair - If the protective coating rips, repair by lifting the ripped patch and apply a fresh coat to the underside and reseal. Alternatively, cut away the damaged area and apply a fresh coat.
